One unit before removal.

Stewart’s cold storage move.

Stewarts is a family run firm based in Perthshire Scotland, Specialising in Shortbread, Fudge, Strong mints and flavoured shortbread.

The two units started in a warehouse in Lockerbie, Scotland. When in the warehouse the fridge units were de-gassed and disconnected from the power sources.

In order to remove the units from the warehouse, the side wall of the warehouse had to be cut out and removed.

Using a telehandler forklift and skates, each unit was lifted and pushed into place. The side wall of the warehouse was then replaced and made secure using a hiab.

The units were then individually craned onto two wagon trailers and then sent up to their new site in Perth, Scotland.

Where we had previously dug out and prepared a level hardstanding area for both the units to be placed onto.

The units were then craned into place on the hardstanding side by side, where we set out marking out and cutting out the adjacent sides of each unit, down the length of each unit so they could be welded together to make one large unit.

Once the sides were removed, a small long centre piece with reinforcements were added to the middle as the two units were joined to strengthen any weaknesses caused by cutting out the sides.

From start to finish the project took approximately 14 days, the customer was very happy with the overall result.
